Audience-
Most of the Audience turn up at 7pm others around 7.30, the pub was packed with friends and locals all enjoying the gig, some of the audience had colourful wristband supplied by the bar owners, the wristbands were to represent the age of performers and the audience that were allowed to drink alcohol. We did have stamps for that job but the wristbands were more elegant.Nick was walking around to check ID's and handing out the wristbands. The audience also gave us feedback (as you can on the video) i was very pleased and relieved with their feedback because as a group we didn't plan properly, we took to long at trying to find an appropriate venue for the gig and that time overlapped the time of organisation for everything else. Nick Feedback- I was very pleased with Nick's feedback especially the part he stated that it was done very "professionally" and hopefully in the future we are able to do more gigs at the Queen Victoria pub. Henley standard- A reporter and photographer from the Henley standard came to see and take pictures of the performers at the gig to promoted it on the henley standard newspaper. This was press release in the Henley standard newspaper before the gig; 'SIX music students are to host a charity gig night at the Queen Victoria pub in Market Place, Henley, next Friday (May 22) from 7pm to 9pm. Cristiana Simoes, Dan Noble and Natalie Fawcett, who are all 17, Jasper Lynch and Teddy Chilton, both 18, and 19-year-old Jordan Peedell will be raising money for Oxfam and Cancer Research UK. The Henley College students need to gain experience of planning, promoting and performing at a gig as part of their BTEC course. The line-up of performers includes Matt Maltese, Atlantic Shore, Ad Amorem, Scuff, Teddy’s Fantastical Jazz Duo and Georgia Michel. Entry is free.' This was the video uploaded right after the gig, unfortunately me, Dan and Scuff weren't shown performing at the gig but I was still very pleased with how the video represents our performers and BTEC class. Sound Technician- We had Cam as our sound technician, he did an awesome job with the soundcheck and with the rest of the gig, he was very professional and very helpful throughout the gig, if he wasn't for him our gig wouldn't have been so successful. Team Evaluation- This was my BTEC class evaluation of the gig unfortunately i wasn't there because i had to catch the bus early.I agree with my BTEC class, the toilets were a bit of a problem because there wasn't enough space for people to pass and I feel that organisation could have been a little bit better if we planned the gig earlier but the performance were amazing even if we had some minor errors (especially our class) but the audience loved it and we had a great time performing it.The promotion of our gig was fantastic and a lot of audience showed up to see our gig, we raised £110.54 for both of our charities. Equipment- The equipment that we took to the Queen Victoria Pub were mainly instruments: guitars and pianos. Mics, speakers and leads. We borrowed the PA of our sound technician Cam. Most of the heavy Equipment (scuff drums, speakers and PA) were transported to the gig by car at 5.00pm.Cameron and Scuff performers all helped loading the equipment and setting it up. Equipment setup- The Queen Victoria staff had already moved the tables and chairs giving us extra time on the soundcheck and setup. We taped all the leads down and try to move everything out of the way so the space would be bigger. Soundcheck- The sound check was very quick than last year it was only around 20-25 mins with scuff band and it didn't have any problems thanks to our sound technician. We did our sound check without following the set list and that was a bit confusing for me and my singer but the rest was wonderful. Packing away- I wasn't there when everyone was packing away because i had to catch the bus but the guys said that it was quick and easy they had the chance to talk to the landlord and the performers also helped the BTEC class pack everything away. My evaluation- The toilets were a problem for us because it was near all our equipment and there was not enough space for people to pass but that wasn't really our problem, its the way that the room was structured that made it difficult for us. The organisation could have been a lot better if we started planning a lot more sooner, we started this project in the winter but we decided to start planning a few months before the deadline, if we started sooner we wouldn't have as much pressure that we did. The posters of our gig could have been designed better but either way it did an excellent job at attracting extra audience. The news press of our gig was fantastic they even had a video made of us performing at the gig (even though i wasn't in the video) I was very impressed with the professionalism. Our sound technician was fantastic, he did a great job with the soundcheck and with all the acts, the only few minor mistakes you could hear was us playing or singing the wrong note.We raised £110.50 for both our charities, we did lost around 10-11 pounds of a few tools that we needed at the gig stamps, batteries and tapes. All the performance were excellent, there were a few minor mistakes but we did a great job at recovering. Me and Dom made the song our place in just two weeks so we were amazed at how well it went. If i planned the gig again i would have timed and make sure the planning side is done correctly so we wouldn't have to waste as much time as we did.I would have tried to promote our gig in the radio probably make a small jingle.I would have also try to make the posters to look more eye-catching by creating a design of an instrument of a singer in the background or maybe take pictures of our performers and put that in the poster as a background and add the college logo so the audience will know that the students were the ones who host the gig as well adding the charities.I would have tried to find a more spacious gig because people had trouble to go to the toilets as the space was to small pass and to have all our equipment there. |
