Music technology development: Music technology could be an instrument effect or a software that helps musicians to create and expand their ideas.
-Audio editing In the early years the first recording had to be done live, using only one take because technology was not advanced enough so the musicians and music techs were more concerned with how it was performed than the mistakes that musicians would make while playing. There are different methods to edit the audio such as:
Splicing audio-It`s the best editing tool for mistakes in the audio because you can cut through the small sections and erase it or replace it with another audio piece.
Finding edit points-is easier with DAW editing because it is usefull to align audio where a downbeat to a section precedes in the vocals or instruments. It is also possible to mark the spot to edit and mesure it.
Editing during Mastering-The most easiest way to edit a mastering audio is to use a multitrack because it allows it to be more flexible and adataple.Always remeber to cut the silence by replacing the same section in the song.
-Synthesizers Is a electronic instrument that be controlled by other input devices such as keyboards, sequencers, electric drums and etc.Early additive synthesizers were the hammond organ, Barrel organs which were invented in the 1930`s.They can produce different types of sounds.
-Drum machines Is an electronic instrument, they are made to imitate the sounds of drums or other percussion instruments. The early drum machines were made in the 1930`s which you could play compositions with multiple rhytmic patterns. Education in music technology:
-college and universities Music technology education include various modules for young technicians. They are usually A level equivalents or Btec modules. The course is for people that likes to compose music or mixing for any style from drum n bass, techno, dubstep, house music, film, games and advert music.
It includes: Musicianship-Developes your technical and theoretical knowledge. Repertoire-creating files of work including original compositions and arrangments. Collaboration-working with other producers to create certain skills Promotion-channel promotion and media network such as facebook, tweeter, etc Realization-creating a master version of your repertoire including multiple edits and specific mixes.
After the course most students will go on to become composers, music technicians or audio engineers.

Music technology timeline: In the 1800 music boxes appeared between the 1800 and 1815.A music box is an automatic music instrument that produces sound by set of pins placed on a cylinder or a disc that is tuned of a steel comb. They are developed from snuff boxes of the 18th century, the boxes were called "carillons a musique"-french.The more developed boxes have tiny drums or smal bells for the metal comb.History of the music box is that, the orginal snuff boxes were usually tiny containers that would fit into gentleman waistcoat pocket. They were powered by clockwork and produced by asrtisan makers. The production of the music box was developed in Switzerland because it wanted to follow the watchmaking tradition. The cylinders were orginally made by metal and powered by a spring. The cylinders could be removed if people wanted to change melodies in the 1862.The models had four sprinds to provide continuos play for up to three hours.
1820 Barrel organs were developed.Barrel organ is a mechanical instrument that is developed of bellows and rank of pipes.the barrel organ is activated by a person turning a cranck or the clockwork that is driven by weights or springs. There are many different names for barrel organ such as hand organ, cylinder organ, box organ, grinder organ and low countries organ. The barell is developed by metal pins and staples of varieties for longer notes. Each barell usually cotains several different tunes. The music produced by a barell organ is a function of the quality of its pinning. The barrell may be damaged if its not sturdy to maintain precise alignment over time, since they play the same programming role as music rolls and have to endure significant mechanical strain. The operation of the barell is that a set of keys positioned just the surface of the barrel.Every single key corresponds to one pitch.A rod is connected to the rear of each key. The end of the road is connected is a metal pin which operates a valve within the wind chest.
1870 Fairground organs are developed. It operates valves, allowing air to flow through organ pipe.A fairground organ is a pipe organ that is designed for public fairground to provide loud music to accompany fairground rides and attractions.Organs are intended to use for indoor, they are designed to produce large volumes to be heard above the noise of crowds of people and fairground machinery. The history of fairground organ is that it becamed more mechanised at the end of the 19th century.Fairground development and manufactured is from the later 1880s.The organ is provided with an ornate and florid decorative case designed to be further fairground attraction in its own equipment.
1890 Gramaphone is developed by Emile Berliner. It was the first disc record label in the united states. The company feel apart before producing any machenary or discs. In 1894 Berliner tried again under the name of United States Gramaphone Company and began to manufacture machines and hard rubber discs. On the gramaphone discs only a proportion of 2 minutes and half could be fitted into it.It depended on the speed to fit anymore. What nearly destroyed the Emile Berliner company was the 160 rpm disc reducing the maximum playing time.
The Hammond organ was invented by Lauren's Hammond and John M, Hairnet in 1935.The Hammond organ is an electric organ that can play different varieties of sounds. The Hammond b-3 organ is the most well known type.It is possibly the worlds first synthesizer.Hammond organ can be used in different types of places such as home, church, live gigs and studio recordings. Hammond organ was to replace the pipe organ for smaller churches because its cheaper. Its mechanical can create electronic signals of various frequencies.Hammond organ has 61 keys and 25 pedals, it is a tone wheel because of its magnetic spinning wheels.Hammond organ is popular around the genres of Jazz and Rock. The popular artist of this organ were Emerson lake and Palmer- English progressive rock artist in the 1970s,Jimmy Smith blues/jazz musician 1925-2005 and Medeski Martin and Wood- American Jazz trio formed in 1991.In the 1980s and 1990s,musicians began using electronic and digital devices to imitate the sound of the Hammond because the disadvantage of Hammond organ is that its to heavy to transport. Famous songs that Hammond organ was involved in A whiter Shade of pale by Procol Harum (1967) flowing like a river through the whole 4 minutes song,Hush by Deep purple (1968) , your time is gonna come by Led Zepplin (1969) adding a little bit of church into the song software puglins-now a days there are software that emulate the hammond organ such as: -AZR3 by Rumpelrausch is a very good drawbar emulation, with onboard FX, nice saturation, and the speaker leslie emulation. Perfect for emulating gospel organ and rock organ. -Organized trio it’s the perfect companion for your funky tracks. -NubiPlus by fxpointaudio Nubi Plus VSTi come with a VST FX for adding the Leslie effect : Spinner VST. The two make a super groovy combo, and gives you this nice Hammond B3 organ sound. -Dirtbag and Lightbag by Istvan Kaldor it is good old Synthedit creations : the sound is dirty like it should. You get a nasty B3 organ sound in an instant. Leslie speaker effect is included. -Euthymia VST by Iliadis this free organ VST has a clean sound. You can add a Leslie speaker as free external effect -OddlyOrgan by ODO a little more synthetic, you can go creative with this VST -VL122 by AM music technology It includes the famous Leslie effect, and also a reverb and a tube/drive effect for more dirty sound.
Early drum machines- Rhythmicon-1930`s Was created by Leon Theremin by a request of Henrey Cowell. It produces different type of rhythms that cannot be played on keyboards. It was introduced to the public in the 1932 but soon forgotten by the next generation of rhythm machines only pre-progammed rhythms.
Chamberline Rhythmate-1957 Chamberlin is a tape loop-based drum machine created by Harry chamberlin. It includes 14 tape loops and a sliding head that could playback different tracks on each tape.It contains a volume, a control for pitch, seperate amplifier with bass, treble, volume controls, input jack for guitar, microphone and other instruments.
Wurlitzer sideman-1959 Its a drum machine called sideman it was the first ever commercially produced drum machine. It includes 12 electronically generated rhythm patterns and varieties of tempos.Series of drum vaccum tubes which created 10 eletronic drum sounds. The sideman has a panel of 10 buttons for triggering drum sounds and remote player to control the machine. The sideman was housed in a mahogany cabinet that contained the sound-generating circuitry, amplifier and speaker.
Mp3-1995 Mp3 file name is MPEG-1 audio layer 3 is an audio format for digital audio, its uses is to playback the audio on most digital players.Mp3 file uses 128kbits and can also be constructed at higher or lower bit rates, with higher or lower resulting quality.
